London Editing

Because this will be my first editing week, I will spend extra time experimenting with Editing techniques and colour grading that I've researched during research week to see what works.

During this time I will also be helping do a music video with other people, but because I have not been given further information about what's happening I have not put it in the schedule. With this in mind, I made sure to spread out my schedule more evenly to accommodate any future plans about this and be able to be more flexible.

Unfortunately at the end of the first week, I have fallen ill with some medication I have been taking and I wasn't able to work for a couple of days. This has caused some delays in sequencing the video, which gave me less time to do both the reflective journal and also the creative editing process of the video.

Fortunately, I have given myself enough time at the end of the project to quality check all the videos before release so I will be able to finish the edit then therefore completion of the London short film this week isn't of great importance as I have managed to sequence all the clips already.

Music Video

I agreed with an artist in the music performance course to film a music video for her. I thought that this would be a great working experience as I will be able to practice my skills that are beneficial to this project. Furthermore, as requested by the artist, the video will be set in a club-like area which means having the opportunity to explore how to shoot in low-light situations. This will be greatly beneficial for me as if I end up not being able to shoot all my footage during the day, I will have the experience to shoot during nightfall.

As much as this was a brilliant experience learning how to film in a low light scenario, the overall organisation of this was rather poor, with the bookings of the venue being last minute and me having put extra unneeded effort into the planning. This has resulted in me spending too much time on this project for the client and has started to affect the time scale of my own project. I do not blame myself for this unfortunate outcome as this was my first time working with a client but a valuable experience for future reference. I also know that the work I did on this project was appreciated and of a high standard so the client should be happy with the extra value I have added to their project. I have chosen to step away from this as I fulfilled the original client brief and will now focus more on my project.
