Test Project
Video summary:
-
Software stability testing
-
Perspective mode - Still shots
-
Similarity mode - Moving shots
-
This is because when using the perspective more for moving shots causes the shot to warp.
-
-
-
Colour grade testing
-
Referencing Tutorial as a template
-
Use of Existing LUTs as templates
-
-
Create LUTs into themes of the video.
-
Idea - Make a LUT pack and link it to the video's description as I have sorted the colour grading into folders already.
-
I thought making a test project would allow me to test techniques such as stabilisation and how the footage may look with some colour grading. I have chosen to do this because I want to organise my main project and make the workflow a bit easier and less cluttered, so I have done all the testing in this project.
Main Project timeline
Video summary:
-
Main focus on establishing shots like Studio Ghibilly films
-
Mixed in with slow-motion, Reverse & Timelapeses to add interest.
-
Clips with no audio:
-
Slow-motion, reversing & time-lapse
-
Changing of the speed messes with the audio so I decided to take it out.
-
Sounded within the theme so kept it that way
-
-
Clips with audio in no relation to what's on screen
-
Distracting for the audience
-
-
-
-
Low light shooting with a shutter speed the same similar to the Hz of the light bulb causes it to flicker
-
Oversight when shooting, will make note of it during the next shoot
-
Deflickering tool not available for free version of Resolve
-
Lecturer advice:
-
Make a duplicate of clip
-
Make it 50% opacity
-
Shift it 1 frame forward.
-
-
Unfortunately, this doesn't work as well as I hoped for some of the clips. others worked better.
-
Best cause of action is to prevent this from happening during the shoot.
-
-
-
-
Limitation of the field recorder:
-
Wind noise has proved to be pretty apparent though out some of the clips.
- this is because the pop filter is not designed for heavy winds and only for speech.
-
Artistically speaking, this sounds more realistic of the experience of London and in some cases added to the short film
- Though, hearing the wind itself through a mic isn't comfortable.
-
Note: Research this during Cambridge Research week
